Champion drivers are looking forward to the inaugural Indian Grand Prix scheduled late next month and are certain it will be a success, in what will be the 17th round the season.
The event is the latest fixture to be added to the Formula 1 calendar after Korea hosted its first race last year, an outing which the reigning world champion failed to finish.
Sebastian Vettel however is optimistic about this year’s debut Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit.
“I am looking forward to it. I haven’t seen much of the circuit yet. But I heard it should be quite spectacular,” the Red Bull driver said. “A lot of uphill and downhill as well, more than we expect.
“I have never been to India so am looking forward to it. I hope that all of us we manage to spend most of the time on the track doing what we usually do and not in the restrooms as I heard some funny stories,” he quipped. “I hope we put the circuit on fire, nothing else.”
McLaren driver Jenson Button expects the Grand Prix to be a successful one.
“I don’t really think there is anything else to say, is there? I am looking forward to it,” the 2009 world champion added. “It’s a new experience for me anyway. I have never been to India. It is a new culture but it is something to look forward to.
“I think they are going to love motor racing when we get over there. I think they are going to be into it. I think if we can get a good crowd I think that is the key to a good grand prix,” the Briton explained. “It makes such a difference to us if there is a good crowd and there is a lot of support for the grand prix so hopefully that will be the case.
“I have seen the lay-out of the circuit and it look a lot of fun, but we won’t know until we get there. But, yeah, it is a new experience.”
