Bianchi to replace Hulkenberg in 2012?

Oct.1 (PVM) Reports have emerged in AutoBild claiming Nico Hulkenberg’s seat with Force India is under threat, as Ferrari’s junior driver Jules Bianchi is being linked with the reserve role with the team for 2012.

Hulkenberg, who was the outstanding rookie of 2010, lost his drive with Williams to well funded Pastor Maldonado and was offered the reserve role with Force India for 2011 by team owner Vijay Mallya.

Bianchi has finished third in the GP2 Series for the past two years and his manager Nicolas Todt is keen to steer the promising Frenchman into a Formula 1 related role in 2012, preferably with Friday free practice appearances.

Force India have indicated that they will announce their 2012 driver line-up later this year with Paul Di Resta and Adrian Sutil likely candidates for the race seat.

However there have been recent reports linking Sutil to Williams, which would perhaps promote Hulkenberg to the team’s race seat in his place.

However should the Di Resta – Sutil partnership be retained, Hulkenberg could be out in the cold yet again.

Bianchi and Hulkenberg raced against each other in the 2008 Formula 3 Euroseries, where Hulkenberg was champion and Bianchi third in the championship that year.
